In 1890 the borough of Pennington was formed from portions of the Hopewell Township. Shopping and Dining
In addition to all the shops and restaurants minutes away in downtown Princeton, Hopewell residents can shop at the Tree Farm Village complex, Hopewell Crossing, and the Pennington Shopping Center off of Route 31. You don’t have to drive far to satisfy your craving since Hopewell boasts a variety of excellent restaurants. You can find sushi, freshly made pasta, bagels and more while cruising down Pennington Road. Parks and Recreation
Residents don’t have to travel to Princeton or beyond for a great show. The Off-Broadstreet Theatre presents plays for young and old throughout the year, and remains the quintessential dessert theatre by serving four different desserts with bottomless coffee and tea to its patrons. There are baseball and softball games when the weather warms, and a thriving local soccer league. Following the acquisition of the Twin Pines Airport, the communities of Hopewell, Pennington and Lawrenceville pooled their resources in order to convert the property into a brand new athletic facility. The Twin Pines Athletic Facility, expected to open in fall of 2011, will include two grass fields, three athletic fields, an artificial turf field, lighting and other park amenities.
Living

The Hopewell Valley Regional School District serves students living in Hopewell Borough, Hopewell Township, and Pennington Borough. Comprised of six schools – four elementary, one middle school and one high school – the Hopewell Valley Regional School District consistently ranks among top districts in the state. Hopewell Valley Central High School is able to offer an education tailored to the specific needs of each student. In addition to eighteen Advanced Placement classes, students can learn on the job through the work-study program, take classes at county vocational schools, pursue interests in the visual arts and become global citizens through rigorous language classes.
There are a number of family health care clinics in Hopewell, such as the Hopewell Family Practice located on Broad Street, and the nearest hospital is only twenty minutes away in Princeton.
The new Capital Health Hopewell campus will offer Hopewell and nearby residents advanced healthcare services. The campus includes Capital Health’s Regional Cancer Center and Institute for Neurosciences (including the only CyberKnife Center in Central New Jersey), a community perinatal center (including a level II neonatal intermediate care unit, comprehensive inpatient pediatric unit, and pediatric emergency services), cardiology services, adult emergency services, intensive care as well as other medical and diagnostic services.
Commuting in and out of Hopewell is easy since four major roads run through the Hopewell Township: Route 518, Route 569, Pennington road, and Greenwood Avenue.
