Founded in 1697, Lawrenceville is a small community located roughly halfway between Trenton and Princeton. Also known as “the village of Lawrenceville,” this community is a piece of living history. Lawrenceville's commitment to conservation and historic preservation are evident. Residents of Lawrenceville reenact historical events and preserve local history through restoration projects. Because of the efforts of the Lawrenceville Historical Society, you can still visit buildings constructed back when the town itself was in its infancy. The Brearley House, for example, was built in 1761 with home-fired clay bricks dug up from the surrounding area. From beautiful Revolutionary War-era homes to contemporary models, and with the steady employment base in and around the community, it is easy to see why listings in Lawrenceville have traditionally remained in demand.
If you're looking to get to the Jersey Shore you'll be pleased to know Long Beach Island, Belmar, Atlantic City and others are an easy commute away.
You will find many great places to eat on Main St such as Vidalia for fine Italian cuisine, Acacia Restaurant, Maidenhead bagel for breakfast. Residents also enjoy fresh, locally harvested produce at the Lawrenceville Farmer’s Market.
For shopping, locals can find established brands at the Quakerbridge Mall, along US Route 1. Also, along US Route 1 is the well-established Leonardo's II Mediterranean Grill. Leonardo's II is located at 2021 Brunswick Pike in Lawrenceville.
Because Lawrenceville is advantageously situated along Route 1, Lawrenceville residents enjoy all the perks of neighboring townships without the noise. Within the township, there are eleven parks, four baseball fields, three soccer fields and two softball fields. For those who enjoy the links, there are nine golf courses within a ten-mile radius of Lawrenceville. Parents and neighbors cheer on their students at Lawrence High School sports events, or travel over to Princeton to catch a few Tigers home games at Clarke Field. And, when the weather warms up, families gather for Music in the Park at Weeden Park.
Lawrence is a prime location for both business and residential living. Lawrenceville offers its residents the small town vibe while staying connected to the busy cities just outside its periphery. Major corporations in the Lawrenceville area include Educational Testing Services, Nelnet, Department 56 and the main testing facility for Bristol-Meyers Squibb.
Within the township of Lawrence there are four public elementary schools, two middle schools and Lawrence High School. Lawrenceville is also home to one of the nation’s premier prep schools, the Lawrenceville School, founded in 1810, which one of the oldest and most rigorous schools in the nation. Lawrenceville is also home to two fine Catholic schools, Notre Dame High School and St. Ann Elementary. In the realm of higher education, Rider University is a small, private college with about 6,000 students and a sister campus in Princeton.
If you need a doctor or health specialist, you don’t have to travel far; there are many neighborhood health care offices within the Lawrenceville area, including the Advanced Urgent Care clinic on Lawrenceville road. Nearby is the new Capital Health Hopewell campus offers Lawrence Twp and nearby residents advanced healthcare services. The campus includes Capital Health’s Regional Cancer Center and Institute for Neurosciences (including the only CyberKnife Center in Central New Jersey), a community perinatal center (including a level II neonatal intermediate care unit, comprehensive inpatient pediatric unit, and pediatric emergency services), cardiology services, adult emergency services, intensive care as well as other medical and diagnostic services.
Getting around is easy in Lawrenceville. The town itself is linked to the extensive New Jersey Transit system as well as US Route 1, Highway 295 and 95.
